TRUST STARTS WITH CLEAR EXPECTATIONS

Made honestly. Shared kindly.

CottageTrades connects people who make, grow, and care for the goods they share.

Represent your goods accurately

Disclose whether goods are homegrown, homemade, or handcrafted, explain their sourcing, and use photos of your actual products. Do not pass wholesale or resold products off as your own work.

Keep ingredients and materials in the open

List every ingredient for food and body-care goods and relevant materials for crafts. Explain allergens, cross-contact information, and handling or care. A blank disclosure does not mean a product is allergen-free. Maker pledges are self-reported statements, not independent testing.

Respect category and local requirements

Makers are responsible for determining whether they may offer their goods in their area. Listing availability and a general disclosure are not an approval to sell. Do not list prohibited goods or make misleading health claims. Food and perishable goods use local pickup; online shipping is limited to eligible artisan categories.

Understand badges and feedback

Email verified means a member confirmed their email address. It does not establish product quality or maker identity. A verified producer badge requires a separate review; ingredient pledges do not grant it automatically. Local exchange feedback is tied to completed pickup records and is not a verified online-payment review.

Care for your neighbors

Keep discussions respectful, give credit, and welcome beginners. Keep exact addresses and private contact details out of public posts. Confirm meetup plans privately, communicate changes, and cancel promptly if you cannot attend.

Raise concerns privately

Report misleading origin, false ingredients, or unsafe/prohibited goods from the listing. Circle discussions have their own report action. Reviewers assess evidence before enforcement; affected makers may appeal. Do not use reports to harass others or post another person’s private information.
